Spec #26

I noticed that this package has no tests, it would be great to implement a spec regarding the protocol provided by the package.

(Maybe even some UI testing? and Atom interfacing testing? I don't know about this stuff though so I'm requesting protocol testing mostly to guarantee API stability)
