Container modes for running the DB

The ingestion process has different requirements, needs and contraints compared to the query use in which the database. Once ingestion has finished the constraints that were relevant during ingestion really are no longer relevant.

After ingestion it may be worth rebooting the containers with different configurations and tweaking the database settings, to prioritise ingestion.

The modes

• Ingestion mode

  • has increased share memory
  • maybe disable indexes
  • disable foreign keys

• Query mode

  • has less shared memory
  • activates indexes (if turned off)
  • activates foreign keys
