Regarding existing libraries, a clean project structure looks to include:

a "doc" folder including ".rst" and/or ".html" formatted files
an "src" folder which will contain:
- a version.py file
- an init.py file
- one or more python class files
a "tests" folder including the library tests (often in robot format)

keep documentation & readme light to not be overly referenced by search engines until there is at least a first step working version
