Currently abbs has a frankly, very bad implementation of dependency completion support. Not only that it doesn't install packages in a list (rather, it does it one package by another), $BUILDDEP is always ignored somehow.
This has seriously annoyed me (and I believe that I am not the only one). Please, if possible, fix this issue.
