$network is currently only available in apps, but I think it can be implemented in Firefox extension with dns.resolve. The modifier is very useful to block malicious sites using changing or tons of domains all of them point to the same IP, see https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardFilters/pull/160415 for example.
