Remove double authentication prompt
Move away from device code flow
Offer authentication method with app permissions for DevOps deployments

Script is rewritten with Microsoft.Graph - single interactive authentication (no longer device code flow) - if needed the connection part can easily be swapped to use a service principal based on the Microsoft.Graph logic. PR to follow
