You're confusing stochastic with triplanar. I also don't agree with splitting. Really sorry but I'll have to close this one.
Planar = has a single texture set ... stochastic = has a single texture set
triplanar = has two types, 2 texture sets or 3 texture sets Spherical projection = 2 texture set top/bottom Cylindrical projection = 3 texture set top/middle/bottom
