One thing to think about might be long-term assessment.
For the last year or so, I've been teaching a digital-storytelling workshop to graduate students at the University of Washington, and this quarter, a colleague and I are taking a break from teaching this workshop in order to assess what students have done with digital storytelling. (We do some assessment on the last day of the workshop, but we're especially curious about what people are doing six months or a year out.)
In order to do this, we came up with a list of ten questions that take about 30-40 minutes to answer. Then, we reached out to the students who have taken our workshop--I think ten responded--and this week we are starting to interview them. (Folks other than my colleague and I are conducting the interviews because we don't want to influence things by doing the interviews ourselves. Because we taught the course, we're worried that people might feel like they will tell us only positive things and feel a bit nervous about giving constructive feedback.)
We're also compensating everyone with $20 gift cards. We hope we'll get some interesting results!
We're excited to connect, collaborate, and learn from other awesome projects! We're interested in projects with a focus on self-assessments and evaulating learning with game-design elements.
