What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run the noisy.py example (or any pyglet app)

Expected:
the simple example running.
Happened:
instant crash with traceback.

Any additional info (platform/language/hardware) that may be relevant?
The example (and any pyglet app) runs ok with 1.1.4 release
After seeing the problem with a pyglet 1.2dev hg clone from sometime ago
(that was working ok with other hardware) I made a fresh clone from
googlecode, the precise version:

If it serves to narrow when the problem popped, the prev old when I
spotted the problem was

I've just observed the same issue on a Windows 7 (32 bit) system with an ATI
Radeon HD 4300 graphics card. As the drivers installed on this system are
pretty old, I guess it's maybe a driver bug (I can't update the drivers at the
moment).

Do you have the latest drivers, and still have this issue?

As a workaround, I found out that disabling the shadow-window created by pyglet
fixes the problem. Just insert "pyglet.options["shadow_window"] = False"
directly after importing pyglet (and make sure you don't call any GL functions
before creating a window).

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
In may 2010 I confirmed the issue with two gpus (integrated ati 3200 and
discrete ati radeon 4650), with two driver versions; one some months older, the
other the then current ati catalyst drivers. Results as in the original report,
totally repeteable.

Today I retested with Ati catalyst 10.10 and the current pyglet 1.2dev ; to be
precise:

pyglet version info:
D:\hg_externals\pyglet_12dev\examples\noisy>hg summary
parent: 2510:1d5f85ed5f44 tip
Fix "unorderable types" error with python 3.2a4
branch: default

Results are different, but not good:
running the stock noisy.py it not crashed, but look at the attached screenshot:
totally weird.
Just for completeness, this with other radeon 4650, this time xfx, before a msi
(I dont think it matters)

editing noisy.py to use your workaround I got the correct image.
I do not tested further, I see there are new drivers which I'am downloading and
want to test with them.

I will report later.

Downloaded and installed the current drivers (ati catalyst 10.11).
Results are the same like in the prev post.

Tried other scripts in the examples directory. I got some tracebacks, but the
only one related to openGL was

Meanwhile, I've also updated the drivers on the system where I observed this
issue - with the same results as yours.

The problem seems to be with OpenGL resources shared between multiple OpenGL
contexts (which pyglet does internally with the shadow_window). I'm not sure
what has changed there between pyglet 1.1.4 and 1.2dev. Also, I'm still not
sure if it's only a driver bug, or if pyglet is doing something wrong (because
other drivers work fine).

So, unfortunately, the only advice I can give at the moment is to create the
pyglet window before all other resources - that way they don't get shared
across contexts. That doesn't help much with existing programs, though.

I can confirm the two issues on Windows 7 64 bit with GeForce GTX 260:

1) The noisy.py example does not display the ball image unless a
pyglet.window.Window is created before other resources.

2) animation.py raises "pyglet.gl.lib.GLException: invalid value" unless
graphics_vbo is disabled.

For pyglet_info see the attachment to issue 510.

Update:

windows xp xp3 32bits, ati radeon 4650 (not the same rig as my prev report)

with 1.2dev like that:

Fix for issue 523. Numeric keypad constants in docs don't match key.py.

,the now current stable catalyst drivers, Catalyst Version 11.9

and running with the stock flags (ie running from the cloned code without
modifications)

noisy.py runs, sound is emitted when pressing space but no ball comes to view.
The text shows.

examples/programing_guide/animation.py shows only a white window.

I've commited some patches that hopefully fix some context sharing problems
(rev. 8de0d773df2f).
Maybe they also help with your problem, can you test the latest version?

The machines crashing with gl_info.py are at another location, probabbly I will
be there in ten days, I will test then.

I have here another machine with ati radeon 4650, but other hw/sw.
After the problems with drivers 11.9 I downgraded to 11.5 and performed some
tests at three revisions.
Note about test.py runs: there are not exactly repeteable, a test can fail in
one run and pass in another. Also, some tracebacks are seen in the console but
not in the log (look for the world 'traceback' in the console dumps.)

8de0d773df2f : this is after your changes in context sharing
    gl_info: runs ok
    noisy.py : correct image
    animation.py : correct image
test.py : seems to have less problems, 1st run log attached as pyglet.1.r625e1e191389.log, 2nd run log and console dump pyglet.2.r... console.2.r...

30652d1b9051 : just before your change
    gl_info: runs ok
    noisy.py : correct image
    animation.py : correct image
test.py : more errors than after your patch; Attached log pyglet.1.r30652d1b9051.log and console dump console.1.r30652d1b9051.txt

64e3a450c83b : the revision in the OP
    gl_info : runs ok
noisy.py : text is show instead of balls, like in the pic of comment 2
    animation.py : traceback at start:

Is that still repeatable with 1.2alpha1?

Both examples, noisy.py and animation.py, work for me with pyglet-1.2alpha1 on
win32-py2.7 and win-amd64-py2.7.
