Do you have any thoughts on this one @david-gonzalez-a8c ? We don't have the ability to add more tabs.
I don't feel strongly either way, which means I'd probably lean toward not making a change here but, like I said, I don't feel strongly.
This is what Android Auto currently looks like:
FWIW, it looks like Spotify takes even one more click to get to a playlist
Real estate here is specially limited so it's inevitable that we have to put things in a second level of importance. Having said that, I'd like to understand a bit better how the tabs work now in Android Auto.
Is "New releases" is a filter or new episodes from the "Podcasts" list? If it's the latter, how does this work? Do we show the first filter users have?
Also, to understand the comparability issue, how can I take a look at the Apple Carplay version? I don't think I have a way to test it and I haven't found any specs in our Figma files.
Thank you.

Good question @david-gonzalez-a8c, I didn't realize this, but you're exactly right, we show the first filter the user has there. In other words, if the user uses long-press to drag their preferred filter to the top of their filter list in the phone app, then the next time Android Auto loads, that filter will be displayed as the second tab.
It sounds to me like this user may have (understandably) not realized they could change the filter shown on the main screen.

Maybe @leandroalonso can help with that.

If that's the case, how about making the second tab "filters" and being able to browse all of them? Is one more click, but only for the first filter, and is more comparable to the mobile experience (and Apple CarPlay from what I understand)

The more menu currently lists all your other filters (along with In Progress, Downloads, and Files), so your suggestion is essentially to move the other filters from the more tab to the second tab instead of having the second tab directly link to the first filter, right? Just making sure I understand.

@david-gonzalez-a8c I DMed you instructions

Yes
I just checked Apple CarPlay. Sharing it for clarification, as this is what we'd want to achieve:
Description
At the moment, the UI of the Android Auto version is different from CarPlay. To access features like Filters, you need to press the ... button, then access Filters. This can be a bit of a safety issue since a user would need to press a lot more buttons.
On Android Auto, we show 'Podcasts', 'Downloaded' and 'In Progress' as the 3 main menu items. On Apple CarPlay, we have 'Podcasts', 'Filters' and 'Downloaded'.
I think the CarPlay menu items should also be shown on Android Auto.
