The table is periodically updated on the API, but the codes are not within the taxaResources table. Need to investigate if it is possible to harvest new names from the NEON API and determine the taxonomic relationship.

Example of a specific changes:

The thirteen-lined ground squirrel: New name is - Ictidomys tridecemlineatus (ICTR); previous name was - Spermophilustridecemlineatus (SPTR).

Needs to be re-evaluated based on input from NEON central and NEON Biorepo IT team. Course of action depends on answers to following questions. Note that this is a NEON Biorepository issue, and not related to Symbiota development.

Can NEON API taxonomy API be modified to be queried by taxonCode/taxonGroup? Currently, the whole taxonomy would have to be periodically queried via the API and then compared against the Biorepo database, which is very inefficient and not practical. Another option is the ability to query for most recently added names.
How quickly is the NEON taxonomy API updated? Are new names added on a regular basis?
Should the NEON API be used to update the taxonomy within the thesaurus, or just to harvest new taxonID codes so that the taxonCodes can be properly translated to full names
In what ways does NEON central want to integrate their taxonomy management into the portal, and vise versa? Should the NEON taxonomy be loaded as a secondary thesaurus?
