Alumni Page #121

Add the form to Cohort registration pages e.g. https://bitshala.org/cohorts/mb/. It should handle both cases when registration is leading to an immediate cohort and when registration isn't immediately leading to the cohort.

Besides when the cohort is over these participants will make it to the alumni page which looks similar to https://www.summerofbitcoin.org/alumni, it will be ranked from best alumni to worst. Followed by participating students who never completed their cohorts but dropped out.

Quite like our current job board https://fantastic-bandana-d1a.notion.site/05d759211f2245818cedc226f06a6e89?v=1a640688e80b4bf3b6b83d64c6c31499 when one of the alumni or participating students profile is tapped, a detail view is popped.

@setusaurabh @rajarshimaitra Here's two iterations on the alumni page...

Iteration 01: Simple card layout, with details. The card itself mentions what cohort the graduate has completed

Iteration 02: The alumni are categorically presented under the name of the cohort they completed

See what you think, let me know if we should include or exclude any details about the grads !!

I'd suggest going with all alumni in one page, and showing the cohorts that they completed with a tag. This way we can also allow for filter by cohorts in future by giving a drop-down or filter. Also some graduates are common. Usually the best ones graduate through all the cohorts.

It can be on top bar or on the left side. Placement on mobile will have to be figured out though.

Also we can have a section which can be participating in the same page. We are doing this b/c right now we have got very few graduates so this section will not only push the participating candidates but will also be a proof of how challenging (and hence small passouts) from our cohorts.

Got it! So right now, do we want to add any sort of filtering or not? Do I need to design it for development right now?

Based on the card layout you're suggesting...they should look like:

This πŸ‘†πŸΌπŸ‘†πŸΌ ?

Any other changes that need to be made to the cards?

Regarding the 'participating' section... how are envisioning it's functionality? Even if a cohort is over will there name still be there? If yes, will the section be called something else?

And, another query, do we need to give off the impression that the cohorts are so challenging? Bitshala identified that one of the core problems of studying bitcoin is that being alone while having to go through a chaotic and confusing ocean of scattered resources is demotivating and most people quit studying bitcoin here... Bitshala's goal is to simplify this journey, make it less challenging by providing a structured guide and a supportive community. So, doubtful if we should be suggesting that the cohorts are challenging.

I'm concerned that newcomers who visit this page might be discouraged upon realizing how many participants are unable to complete the cohorts.

Let me know what you think !!

setusaurabh commented 7 months ago

Hmm fair point we won't want to discourage future participants. But we wish to show the participants too, maybe only few load up and on tapping see more one more row of 4 profiles load up with see more cta shifting one row down.

That ways we will reveal fewer participants who still have not graduated.

Yes I like this design. In the first version, it's okay if we don't have filter.

paperpsych commented 7 months ago

That's a good suggestion, we could do that.

I also noticed that SoB says that they have 35K+ applications but they show only 24 alumni on their alumni page. I wonder if it hasn't been updated or if it is true that they got 24 in 3 yrs?

What do you think about adding more subtle section that showcases the number of graduates and includes a few highlights or quotes from successful participants?

We could add another brief note or section that acknowledges the challenges of learning about bitcoin, emphasizing that while not all participants complete the program, support and resources are available to help everyone through their journey. This note can emphasize that the goal of Bitshala is to make learning bitcoin accessible and less intimidating, and that the community and resources are there to support learners at every step.

For this - we'll need to ollect a few short, impactful testimonials from past participants who completed the program and write short copy/section that acknowledges the learning curve while emphasizing support and community.

What do you think?

setusaurabh commented 7 months ago

Yes we will have 2 more sections.

One for reviews pretty similar to SoB.

Another section can be placed addressing recruiters/those who are hiring to post the opening in our gigs channel or shoot an email to jobs/ placement@bitshala.org. will create an alter email for this.

setusaurabh commented 4 months ago

As discussed we can put intern page before alumni page

@rajarshimaitra should we close this? As internt/fellowship page is out and we planned that sooner than alumni. Do we still need alumni page?
