In most of case readonly and disabled have the same effect, i mean user can't change widget state.
But for me there is a little difference between them:
disable is completely disabled, ie user can't change widget state because current selected options doesn't allow to change its state and the style is "grey".
readonly is a specific widget state to indicate something to user. So its color should be the same than normal state (not "grey").
So it's just a question of style to give developers different ways to use your widget.
