The K054539, used as the main sound chip in X-Men, Xexex, and a bunch of other Konami arcade games, including the Konami GX line, has no internal schematics or die shot publicly available. In addition, MAME's implementation of this chip doesn't really sound right compared to real hardware.
We need somebody to decap and image this chip, so that it can properly be reverse-engineered.
Update: A request for the K054539 die shot has already been sent to Furrtek, who I know has a die shot of this chip. In the meantime, though, I'll continue working on the K052001 and K007232 chip implementations!
Quick update: Raki has acquired a K054539 chip, as well as several other Konami custom ICs, for reverse-engineering purposes. I anxiously await their findings!
