Use Case: Global Rivers: major dissolved anion and cation concentrations for rivers #5

A very basic use case is the gathering of information on major dissolved anion (SO4, Cl, Br, HCO3) and cation (Ca, Mg, Na, K) concentrations for rivers at a location close to the coast just outside the tidal influence. In order to make the data useful, the date (time) of sampling, pH, location, filtration cutoff, storage/preservation, lab location, analytical method and detection limit should be available. I am not aware of any system that would allow to retrieve such information for the major rivers of the world (say to top 50-100 rivers by water flux). This information, ideally complemented with water discharge, strontium (or even lithium) concentrations and 87Sr/86Sr isotope data, could be used to reassess the uptake of carbon dioxide by mineral weathering reactions in the respective drainage basins.

Conclusion at meeting. Investigate registering time series as CUAHSI data sets, or a WFS for sites with list of variables (site catalog), harvest into pipeline for CINERGI. Ilya, @smrazgs look at a sampling feature WFS for CUHASI samples to find those with chem data Bernard is domain point guy.
