The committed format is how standard markdown attached custom attributes to elements. I'm not sure if the Python implementation needs a custom extension to make that work, but I'm putting it out there as a possible fix for accessibility tagging once we figure that out.

Yeah, I checked it on a project site - inspect the Stack Overflow link attributes - and the standard syntax totally works on build!!!!
