Is the "nykysuomen sanalista" list under CC 3.0 or GNU-LGPL? #24

In the README.md it is stated that the "nykysuomen sanalista" by Kotus, is under the CC BY 3.0 license. This does not seem to be the case.

From what I, as a non-Finn, could gather, the list is GNU-LGPL licensed.

Could you either get that right or clarify it? I would like to use the list for my own clone.

Thank you! Best regards,

Michael

In English, that's: "The word list is released under the licenses GNU LGPL (Lesser General Public License), EUPL v.1.1 (European Union Public Licence) and CC Attribution 3.0 Unported."

That means it can be used under GNU LGPL, EUPL v.1.1 or CC Attribution 3.0 Unported.

Yeah, what @androidkotlindev said is my best understanding too - the list seems to be published with multiple licenses on their official website.

But the usual "I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice" applies.

Do note that the list Sanuli used is not included in this repository, and at this point the list is starting to be quite heavily modified from the original based on >10000 user suggestions on words to add or remove. The original list is still a great resource to use.

Thank you for your timely response. Is the one currently used publicly available and can I possibly adopt it in my project? If not, I will simply include the Kotus list.

PS: My question has been answered and the issue may be closed.

The word list used in Sanuli isn't available publicly, but it's based on the Kotus list, so there should not be too much differences with them.

Whoops, I must have misunderstood something. Thank you.

Yeah, the exact list used by sanuli isn't currently publicly available, even though the words are included in the .wasm bundle that ships to the clients and a smart user could just scrape it off that :)

But using the original list is probably a better starting point for you as the list used by Sanuli is quite opionated, good luck for your project!

Just for future reference, this is my adaption of the "nykysuomen sanalista" by Kotus (5-letter words only):
