Very minor issue mostly, but currently, cart dying has a few issues with railcraft:

A couple carts (namely the Bed Cart and the Tank Cart) cannot be dyed. It seems this is because they use a different minecart entity from other carts, based on their appearance.
The seasonal carts (Pumpkin Cart and Gift Cart) changes texture from a wooden cart to a metal one when dyed.

Would adding specific compatibility to Railcraft be something that's considered?

Not exceedingly likely, particularly as I have more-or-less stopped working on mods for 1.12.2. Sorry. I might look into it, but it's very low on the TODO list.
