Launches always fail at "Retrieving update information". #62

Describe the bug

I attempted to launch game with version 1.7.10. Everything went well until the process began to repetitively fail at the step of "Retrieving update information". More specifically, the process bar got stuck first, and then after some time, a window with text "There was an error trying to starting the game. Please try again later." It seemed that my network was working pretty well, and my computer was set for installation.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Click on "Launch 1.7.10"
  2. Wait until it gets to "Retrieving update information."
  3. See popup window suggesting an ongoing error.

Expected Behavior

Game starts like it is supposed to be.

Environment

OS: Windows 11
Game version:  1.7.10
Launcher version: 2.4.2
JRE version: 8u111

Anything else?

Can’t reproduce your issue

Either try to launch again or provide the launcher log

Are you using a VPN or a custom DNS server?

[2024-01-30 21:17:17.560] [error] [Asset Downloader] Error from attempt Error: Hostname/IP does not match certificate's altnames: Host: libraries.minecraft.net. is not in the cert's altnames: DNS:.payscale.com

Something is redirecting MCs libraries domain to payscale

The problem is not getting solved, but it does not seem to be the launcher's issue. The issue can be closed if needed.
