Tagging Unnamed but Important Entities #23

@ChiaraPalladino I have been wondering whether I should be tagging things like "θαλάσσης" and "πυραμίδας" since while they are not capitalized entities they reference specific important locations. I had tagged θαλάσσης as location and epithet and then added The Mediterranean as a place. I tagged πυραμίδας as collective and object and added The Giza Necropolis as a place.

Similarly I plan on tagging the Nile not only when it is referenced by name but also when any form of ποταμός is referencing the Nile specifically.

Yeah, that's a very good question.

The Annotation Guidelines specify that "Named Entities" are only capitalized names, but in specific projects that aim at mapping movement and spatial knowledge it definitely makes sense to go beyond that. For now, I would recommend only tagging common nouns if you are absolutely and totally sure that they can be associated with a certain location. But we should discuss this in our meeting more extensively.
