Playing as a chaotic human Anachrononaut:

  1. Drank from fountain
  2. Summoned dryad
  3. Dryad stole cloak of magic resistance
  4. Switched to arm blaster; shot and killed dryad
  5. Cloak of magic resistance just gone

Nevermind - item was in another monster's inventory, so assuming this was user error.
