I'd watch these videos in the opposite order we ended up watching. Start with Keynote: OpenTracing and Containers: Depth, Breadth, and the Future of Tracing since it's short-ish and a good intro.

Would You Like Some Tracing With Your Monitoring? goes into a little more depth
