Take a look at the examples in numba/examples and see how they may be combined with elm / earthio. Ideas:

Are there parts of numba/examples that could be generalized in elm?
Are any of the examples something that could be written as a scikit-learn custom estimator

Hi @gbrener - A couple things on this issue:

In the Phase II Milestone 3: Zonal Statistics, Rolling Statistics, Filters, and Change Detection we are going to do Laplace filters. We should see if we can use numba/examples/laplace2d in combination with xarray_filters and other data structures we support, e.g. using that Laplace function from numba as the func argument to a xarray_filters.Step
