Okay so ive brought this up before, but to little avail, but after a discussion with linus i think weve hit most of the points. I really want to make this soon, and dont have time to write something up, so im just going to copy some of our messages with a little trimming (from both sides so you can see the discussion). Apologies if this means its not in the best format/not the most professional.

Linus to lgg: A few things, sudos are able to act on meta issues, even raise them, so they'd be able to do meta stuff at an expedited rate.

Also when someone becomes sudo, they have all the transparency in the world only to realise, this push for transparency only seems like that, but it's really just boring normal stuff, not a great deal of exciting things that are being covered up.

lgg to linus yeah we've talked about this Ik there's probably a lot of boring shit But the fact all of my current meta issues have not received a proper response I bet half of them have been forgotten But even the new ones, the response is minimal And it just looks like you don't care And look at my old one (probs 283) complaining about this I waited for ages and then tref acknowledged the issues and said it is being discussed and an official response was coming It then sat there, was closed, was reopened, and has had nothing. Even simple ones like the reacts for the meta channel, got some good interaction and generally positive feedback, then nothing, even when I made another comment to prompt that its still open Frankly I think my meta issues don't even end up making me feel that much better because half of them are effectively (not completely) ignored.

I really think if the staff had some discussions in meta, or at least summeries, rather than just an official response once in a blue moon, we could see that it is being discussed, give out opinions and feedback during the process, clarify possible misunderstandings, and it would all be quicker and more effective imo.

And then again ofc there's stuff that can't be talked about publicly. And you can assure me its all boring, but that's not the point (also I've seen leaks of the occasional memes blobthinkingglare)

linus to lgg Well I can't say on current meta issues, I've looked at a few, and such, but for any proper change it has to be discussed and decided by Roots. Often you'll find that that's where the idea is discussed down but not entirely eliminated, hence it freezes and remains inactive.

Otherwise, I think it's a matter if limited time for staff to hold proper discussions, since it's hard to gather everyone in a single place due to time commitments and such, but yeah slow response times haven't been the most ideal.

It's not that they're ignored, it's just that not all will come into implementation. Also like you say, I can write offical responses, but without everyone's opinion and views I'd be very cautious to do so, hence I typically don't, since as I mentioned, we don't get many opportunities to VC together and such.

In terms of stuff not to be talked about, really there isn't much, it's just the usual chatter, not a great deal lost or non-transparent imho, I've seen it all and the only exciting thing is #log which is like an audit log, if that's what you'd he interested in, not sure man, but either way, have a good one lgggggggggg hypersH

lgg to linus Lmao trust me linus I'm more than fucking interested in an audit log lol

But as to roots discussing and it ending up freezing, this is the problem And if its more public, we can see this, and provide continuous feedback, to help compromise etc

Okay so heres probably the most important bit:

I wouldn't be surprised if all of my issues have been talked over in staff But I've seen none of it, to me, they just look ignored I can't even see if u actually like it I cant see what u think are the problems I can't help try and solve them for the benefit of the server if to me, it just looks ignored.

I hope formatting isn't too bad, githubs mobile apps still in alpha and isnt quite polished yet.

Okay to ive realised the actual request/suggestion is a bit lost, so heres the paragraph again. The rest is kinda am faq of the discussion so this issue actually goes somewhere.

I really think if the staff had some discussions in meta, or at least summeries, rather than just an official response once in a blue moon, we could see that it is being discussed, give out opinions and feedback during the process, clarify possible misunderstandings, and it would all be quicker and more effective imo.
