"The folder is not readable or not available" errors #6

I believe I have followed all the steps in the plugin documentation, but cannot import any of the test data. I get the error "The folder is not readable or not available." I have tried hosting the files on another server, where they can be accessed by any browser. And I have tried locating the files in a subdirectory of /files. Regardless, I get the same error.

I have also tried uploading one of the sample XML files to an Omeka item and then adding that, with the uri being the folder in /files containing the XML file (like 'https://site.org/files/original/4'). This does not produce the 'folder is not available' error. Instead, it never shows the processing as complete. It is always listed as 'in progress,' and the only status message is "Process "check" started."

I need the logs to know the issue. Furthermore, this plugin is no more really maintained, as some modules for Omeka S have similar features.
