Just landed a fix in Chrome so the next version of Dev Channel should work
again.

For anyone else who needs this for now, here is an older version of Chrome that
will still work with SpeedTracer (note not all of so-called dev versions on
this site will work with it):

What dev version has the fix?
Running 14.0.835.15 dev on OSX and get the error, when would I expect to see
that update?
Thanks

Running 14.0.835.15 dev-m on Windows 7 and having same issue. What will be the
version number with the fix referred to by knorton?

Switching to the beta channel fixed the problem for me on OSX. I'll stick with
that until the update comes around.

The next dev version of Chrome along with a new version of speedtracer will fix
this problem. Please watch for announcements that these are available.

I just received an update on the dev channel to 14.0.835.18 and I'm still
getting the "Pfffttt, Speed Tracer is not working" message. Any chance to know
what dev release will actually have the fix?

Sorry, the change to fix it did not make it into 14.0.835.18. Apparently it was
merged in right after the build was cut. :-( So it will be the next dev channel
before things get straightened out. Again, sorry for all the problems.
Some alternatives to waiting:
(1) It should work with recent builds
(http://build.chromium.org/f/chromium/snapshots/)
(2) People have been telling me that Speed Tracer is working on beta channel.

FYI, I was running the same version, 14.0.835.18, on Linux (Fedora 14) and
Windows 7. Speed Tracer did not work in either OS.
I downgraded both to beta version 13.0.782.109. Now speed tracer works.

Speed Tracer is working in the latest version of Chrome. You must download the
latest version of Speed Tracer here:

Please reopen this issue, it's still not working.
I am using Chrome 15.0.849.0 dev-m (on Windows 7), the latest version of Speed
Tracer (just downloaded/installed), and using the flag as indicated to run
Chrome with the extension enabled, but still getting the "Pfffttt, Speed Tracer
is not working" message. Also, sometimes when I click the icon for
SpeedTrader, it crashes, and I get a balloon saying "Speed Tracer (by Google)
has crashed. Click this balloon to reload the extension."

Just downloaded the latest ChromewithSpeedTracer bootstrap for Mac OSX, Chrome
Dev Channel 16.0.891.1 dev, and Speed Tracer v 0.24 and still getting this same
error. First time I opened Chrome using the bootstrap app. Since then the
bootstrap doesn't open chrome, have to open them separately, and then get the
Pfft Error when opening Speed Tracer. Tried command line in Terminal to
initiate extension and got "command not found" error.

I just published 0.25 which should fix the problem where everyone is seeing
pfft even though Speed Tracer is working. There still exists another problem
where page transitions are not properly working. That has been fixed in Chrome
and will go out in the next Dev Channel.
