@JaredHarrill Liiloo made a good point that if people are drunk they might sit on it and break a shelf. So she wanted to bring in a small temp table to see if it would work
Is the idea to have it fold down flush against a wall?

@JaredHarrill not sure
re: drunk people. The folding tables have been fine in the hallway so far, I don't see it being any worse in the sound booth do you?
Are you suggesting we use them for the actual table, where the computer sits? On second thought of we had the drummer stool there people would probably understand to sit on that instead, especially if the computer is in the way

I'm still a bit pessimistic that all of this stuff, and Thai cushions will fit and not feel like a storage locker. You'll have to prove me wrong, but I really don't think we need or have space for a table. Can't a small round side table beside a Thai cushion hold a laptop?

Didn't we agree on putting some sort of table in there to hold the computer and recording equipment up? That was my memory. Were you assuming there would be no table at all? If so we wouldn't be able to use it for recording, which would also be a huge selling point for new members and was part of Kiko's initial proposal when we were arguing over the sound room being in the back awhile back, but I'm not sure if you were a part of that.
I promise we can make it as compact as possible, Liiloo's on it. I'm definitely against there being no dedicated recording equipment and also against the room not being multifunctional. Kiko had some clever ideas for this too.
Ya my memory was just storage in the back corner, and I just assumed keyboards would have collapsible stands. Ya if it's a shallow depth and low height, and it doesn't feel awkward for someone to sit on the floor then cool.

Hi guys I just joined github and like to build things. I'm super into the sound-proof room being mindful of being both a music space and meditation space. I imagine it will have other natural applications too. Kiko has done a marvelous job on it. I'm super impressed with it! I'm happy to contribute to make it feel good for the growing number of musicians as well as a good space to meditate and make private calls. I'm both a musician & brought in the green meditation cushion so I'm excited to assist in a clean design solution.
This is not to scale. This is a rough draft of the dimensions of the room and the music area. I believe it will be a great attraction for potential members. Ideally, it would be great to be able to walk up to the music station and record vocals, guitar, or keyboard as soon as an idea comes into our heads! As well, it would be wonderful to walk in and be able to center one's self from all the hub bub of life or to have sock puppet theater! I think we can work with what we have for now and keep making it better as we go. I'm open to suggestions and ideas. I'll be around and I do enjoy experimenting and user testing. I love this kind of thing and love both ideas :)
Are there any particular colors you guys are interested in seeing for the meditation area?
Ah ok, for some reason I had it in my head a different way. I do suggest the desk be a little lower than a normal desk with a shorter stool to encourage more floor cushion use. But also so eye levels aren't out of wack from stool to those on the floor. As for colours, the only thing I was thinking was nothing too bright, but still chill and maybe space age. The original plan was to use packing blocks on the walls for sound dampening and for a space ship feel. So maybe Solarpunk without the neons and more white but accented with typical Thai cushions? But those colours were just off the cuff. Duocracy.

I really dig the space age idea. Chill space age, let's make it happen! We are talking about possibly putting a curtain up too that can hide the music equipment as an option. Me, Taylor and Cam worked on it today and have the music area functional. We also may have had 2 meditation seats donated to us by Dane. They look pretty spacey clean design, we can grow as the space develops. I'll be around if you would like to give a hand. Duocracy.
Ya awesome! Ya I have a mediation cushion at home and it too is super modern. Curtain isn't a bad idea, worried it might get in the way wen someone is working, but I'm sure there's ways to deal with it. And ya if I'm free after work I may pop by tomorrow. I'm not unpacking anything till I get some furniture, but I'm finally in my new place. Just need to do some laundry... Oh god lol

Cam was talking about having some little plants in the room to balance out the meditative feel with the music space. We are researching plants that don't need much sun or water.
(First steps to getting the room functional before feel goodness is brought in.)
How many memebers can you spot in this picture?
Indoor plants Plants that don't need sunlight. Jared maybe this would help with rounding off the room from feeling too musicy.
Multicolor LEDs I know we already have some LEDS in there but with this and the remote, the user of the room can choose whatever vibe they're going for. Jared was suggesting we could hide the lights behind areas so it's softer and not as bright.
Some wishlist items The stool doubled in price overnight. The speaker mounts aren't necessary and a bit expensive but could be useful if we want to do surround sound in the VR room. Instead, Liiloo's going to make little L bracket shelves for the speakers. I found some scissor arm stands we could buy, not just for scratch recordings in the small room but if we got 3 we could use it for podcasters too @TannaPo. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Jared had some awesome indirect lighting ideas this is a guy that it reminded me of :)
Ya that's exactly the kind of lightning I'm talking about. Easy on the eyes, but usable for whatever task. Also of note, please test if the space is adiquate for prayer, I'm not going to use it for that, but someone who may need a prayer space should look to the quiet room.

Ok I get a priest right on it!
Above is the functional sound/non sound room as is.
Some succulent plants I saw today for $3 when I went to the hardware store.
And the notes about indirect lighting with the slide-out keyboard.
I tried drilling with a regular drill the first day with a concrete bit and it didn't work.
The next day I brought a hammer drill but the bit was too big and the anchor screws didn't fit.
Today I bought a smaller cement drill bit for $3.13 that we will tryout today.
Here is a pic of some high-quality ply-wood for the table top. I have also sourced some sliders for the keyboard. I will have to build a custom holder for the music keyboard, which might take a little time but will be cool. :)
Rad! Remember the everything needs to work for either keyboard

Ok, awesome I interviewed several priests and holy shamans and they all recommended to put strawberries in the far left corner of each room. jk!!! :) I follow your drift though, and I like the vibe a lot :D kind of like this - space-age and calming room, so fresh n so chiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllll.
Wait so we aren't having strawberries? :( Also as an atheist, I need plenty of "space" ;)
