Reversed SRS #39

Hey, I've noticed that the SRS gives me: the kanji and asks for meaning and reading. I would like to have an option for it to give me the meaning in English and have me input the Japanese word. Something similar to KaniWani.

Is this possible currently, or is a new feature needed?

It is possible if you use vocab cards. Just fill the top field with your English meaning and set the Japanese word as "Accepted meaning" (basically invert the content of both fields).

However, I really don't recommend it because it can be ambiguous and in many cases there's little room for disambiguation. For instance, if you get quizzed on "to dance", how would you know if you're supposed to enter 舞う or 踊る? You could accept both, but then you'll probably end up remembering only one of the two.

That feels like quite a lot of work, would be nicely if it could be provided out of the box (maybe with a checkbox in settings).

While I agree that it's hard to solve the ambiguity issue, and it would be nice to (I'm not at a level where that would be a problem yet tho). I've noticed that with apps like this, you get very accoustumed to identifying Kanji / Vocab words yet not that good when it comes to producing them.

What I mean is I might instantly know what 舞う means when I see it, but if you'd ask me how do you say "to dance" it might take me a long while or I might not be able to answer at all. For this reason I think it's good to have practice with producing the words as well. Therefore, why I think KaniWani is a great addition to WaniKani.
