[Feature] LingoJam-like word replacement #1162

https://lingojam.com/

I found the feature of having two screens, one with input and another with output, which automatically translates between languages, a very useful tool in the process of conlanging, specially for proto-languages or more minimalist languages. Unfortunately, I can see how such feature could easly spiral out of control in regards of complexity, but a mere word replacement feature is already quite handy, and not too difficult to implement.

My suggestion of a initial "complexity compromise" would be that the user would need to type words already "processed" to the conlang. Example:

goat the sandwich the eat > baata e teni e nom

This as is would also work for the conlanger's process of "feeling" the syntax of the language (or learning the language itself), and some glossing abbreviations support would come handy here too. Some issue that might need addressing is when there're words with ambiguous translations, i.e. dealing with a conlang that distinguishes 2nd person singular and plural (both translates as "you" in english).

Although, should people know, this "translator's" capabilities will always be a compromise because we don't even have really perfect natlang translators... Hence I called this feature "word replacement".

Thank you for the suggestion! (and sorry for the long response, PolyGlot has been on hiatus for a bit)

This is a feature I'm going to have to consider. I might reach out to the website's maker and see about integrating the two, as this project is more focused specifically on the translation aspect than polyglot.
