With 15 in aces and kings North should drive to gave after an overcall.

Playing with a decent partner I would bid 4H in North over 3H to let partner select the game he would like to play (Actually 5C) - But this is probably to difficult for most, so 4D to show 5-4 and forcing is fine

EdwardPiwowar commented 8 months ago

You would have to write why 4H cannot mean "Limit raise or better" for hearts.

ThorvaldAagaard commented 8 months ago

After partners overcall and some bidding, that denies support like the double in north, a cuebid no longer shows support, but either ask for stopper for 3N or ask partner where to play.

It is a common error in GIB, that it thinks that most cuebids are showing support.

So 4H cannot show a good hand with spade support as that hand would bid 3H the first time.

You'd like something like that, but it's too risky for now. image

Yes, but you could also just double again, and raise partners 4Mi to 5Mi. Bidding 3D just looks wrong

8137 is too dependent on opponent's bidding. Small deviations lead to extremly different evaluations (part score, game, slam) image image image

Yes, opponents' bidding may have a strong impact on the contract achieved, especially if the bid is inconsistent with CC. Next BBA image
