I agree that we need to collapse a playlist into a single row. But this state is not always suitable in certain situation. If we can't expand the playlist then we can't see the custom field value on each download item.
There should be collapse and expand buttons to change the state of playlist. These buttons can be coupled with playlist row or stand alone:
The most elegant design is to place collapse and expand buttons on each playlist row in a dedicated column. These buttons appears as boxed plus sign and boxed minus sign, and it doesn't look like a button in the slightest. If collapse button appears, then expand button should be hidden. With this design, we can collapse or expand the playlist individually.
Additional collapse all and expand all buttons may exist outside the table. At least these button must be present if we want to support custom fields.
