Which generation iPod Touch are you using? If you're on the 3rd or above, you
should have Multitasking enabled by default.

Sorry for the late reply.
I honestly have no idea how you don't have multitasking on an iPhone 4 with iOS
5. Since you're jailbroken, you might not have upgraded to iOS 5 incorrectly
and it might have glitched up the multitasking. What I would recommend is a DFU
restore to iOS 5 to clear absolutely all data on your iPhone. Then rejailbreak
and reinstall iTransmission. That's the only thing I think that could actually
help. Make sure you back up all your important stuff first.

Multitasking comes with EVERY LAST iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4G, iPod
Touch 5G by default from Apple. Double tapping the home button opens the
multitasking switcher. If you simply press the home button once while in the
iTransmission app, it'll simply run in the background.

Yes. Like I said earlier, I would recommend a DFU Restore to iOS 5. This MIGHT
solve your issue, but there's always the possibility that it wouldn't solve
anything. However, there's more of a chance your problem will clear up.

Hello, i agree with this problem, i have an iphone 4 on IOS 5 jaibreaked with
the last version of redsn0w (tethered), well when i switch on another
application, the torrents stop to download in iTransmission, and when i come
back on it, i need to restart the torrents...
It's very annoying, cause iTransmission is very useful in background.
Backgrounder doesn't work on ios 5, the native multitask of ios5 seems not
working with iTransmission
I tryed with Go Native, same symptoms...
I don't know if you know another apps like backgrounder, but please help us ! :)

Actually, what I just recently noticed is that, when i switch apps, my torrents
don't stop but instead slow down to download speeds of 1.5 kb/s. I never
noticed it before because the speed would just go right back up. I too would
like a fix for this as soon as possible.

Exact same problem. If you aren't on the app the download stops and even the
seeds/peers don't connect. When you go back to the app, it Resumes download.

Guys. Just fixed the problem. When you're in the app. Hold down home button. A
popup will say "Backgrounder enabled." it's a bit buggy but it's working. Turn
the backgrounder badge on in backgrounder for itransmission first so you know
it's working. You will see the badge on other icons but ignore it. Backgrounder
is still buggy o iOS 5. Just disable it when ur download is done.

Keep in mind that Backgrounder is pretty much useless on iPod Touch 4 and
iPhone 4 as they all ready have multitasking (pretty much an Apple
backgrounder). We'll have to wait til the developer makes multitasking
available by default.

I hope this becomes a priority soon. With the growing number of users upgrading
to 5.0.1, this may prove to be a bigger issue.
Cheers!

Hi dude. First off great app it completely destroys the other attempts out
there even now !!
Just a heads up that Backgrounder is no longer available on Cydia it just pops
up as "incomplete package you may need to edit this item yourself".
No biggy as I just normally just leave my phone face down overnight.
I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to go about adding the background ability
to this app but I'm sure you will come up with something.
There's an App called Ttorrent for rooted Android devices I think they were
close to cracking it before I switched to Apple. Don't know if that would be
any help to you
Keep up the good work mate

Isn't there another tweak that can download torrents in background?

And also, is there a fix yet for itransmission, to make it work in background?

Having the same issue. The torrent either slows down between app switching or
just stops downloading altogether. Tried the backgrounder tweak from cydia;
does help with the background downloading but makes the phone hangup/freeze or
won't even let me switch from one app to another. The person developing
backgrounder tweak has also stopped supporting/updating it anymore (noticed
that in the description). Anybody here has a better solution?

Well I just downloaded a torrent last night with no problems. Phone locked, app
switching etc. It was running in the background. I don't remember but I think I
downloaded a deb file of backgrounder somewhere because the one that was on
cydia crashed whenever it was installed (not sure if it's changed) but the one
I downloaded is called backgrounder_1-1.1.0~a1-1_iphoneos-arm.deb
Type in google. Then put it on your iPhone using ifunbox or whatever. Any
folder. Go to that folder using ifile and it will install. It works. I was
downloading last night and it worked in the background. I've been doing this
since my last post. No problems for me.

Yeah, native multitasking doesn't work with itransmission in iOS 5. Download
backgrounder for ios 5 in the insanelyi repo in cydia, it's beta and possibly
buggy (I haven't had a problem yet though). Downloads are going fine in the
background when you use it with itransmission. I would probably not use it for
other apps since the native multitasking is much smarter so I kill the app when
I'm done with my torrents, it will waste battery life for sure if you don't
