Also, on macOS scidavis does not install a bash command, but it can be launched from /Applications/scidavis.app/Contents/MacOS/scidavis
and clearly support command line arguments:
/Applications/scidavis.app/Contents/MacOS/scidavis --help
Object::connect: No such slot ApplicationWindow::lockToolbar(bool)
Usage: scidavis [options] [file_name]
Valid options are:
-a or --about: show about dialog and exit
-h or --help: show command line options
-l=XX or --lang=XX: start SciDAVis in language XX ('en', 'fr', 'de', ...)
-m or --manual: show SciDAVis manual in a standalone window
-v or --version: print SciDAVis version and release date
-x or --execute: execute the script file given as argument
'file_name' can be any .sciprj, .sciprj.gz, .qti, qti.gz, .opj, .ogm, .ogw, .ogg, .org, .py or ASCII file
current implementation should work on Ubuntu
part of this has been fixed in 354ffb9fa56cdd4ac44dfeddfa97c953679b26ee
It appears the UI remains stuck in "exporting" with the "open with scidavis" function if there is no scidavis installed in the PC
