Dash and slash are quite common when typing, and not extremely rate. In face for code, it is even rarer to use dash and slash in code, for division and subtraction. Examples: labour-intensive, passers-by, etc.

It is specifically mentioned that any user comfortable with typing English text (not code) would be okay with using this application. However, the usage of dashes (-) and slashes (/) are not common in regular English text. They are more common in code or system admin commands and hence, a regular user comfortable with just typing English would not find this application easy to use, due to the prevalence of the said dashes and slashes.
