Mac Pro GTX Titan Black 4k@30Hz after update to 10.13.2 (I hope this is the right place) #241

Hi I just updated my Mac Pro 5.1 to from some older Sierra to 10.13.2 and I lost my 4k60Hz I don't know what I did before to get it. So I google around and landed here. I think I might used this tool to get it working. Hardwarewise it's (still) possible since under Bootcamp with windows I can run 4K@60Hz

Maybe

I would suggest to try

What kind of cable are you using? And did that change? I don't think you would even need the patch.. can you give a bit more info on the configuration? Also windows sometimes users 4:2:0 (YUV) instead of 4:4:4 (RGB) using half the bits makes it possible to get higher refreshrates.

First of all: Massive Thank's for your fast response !! I'm using Displayport Cable. When I use the same Cable with a USB C to Displayport adapter on my Macbook Pro 2017 I get 4K@50Hz so I think the Cable is fine. That with the Bitrate makes sense. I just don't understand why it changed after the Update. Config: Mac Pro 5.1 ATI Radeon 5780 to apple Cinema Display GTX Titan black to ASUS PB287Q Display Installed latest Nvidia Web Driver and Coda Drivers. and SwitchresX

Floris497 commented 6 years ago

What does switchresx say when making a custom resolution?

screen shot 2017-12-29 at 00 21 38 To be honest I did never use that future so I hope I'm doing it right. If I apply experimentally the screen goes black but Asus Monitor still only reports 30Hz

You have SIP disabled? And just save and reboot :) would work best

hendrikzuellig commented 6 years ago

"not activated - invalid ?" is what it says :( I managed to add a 25Hz 3840x2160 mode

Floris497 commented 6 years ago

Hm.. interesting.. try the patch.. but it's really strange.. I've had it working without patch on MacPro 3.1 with a 1080 and 670 just fine..

hendrikzuellig commented 6 years ago

me to it just happened after the update. I wonder if it's worth the pain of reinstalling everything. By now I could easily have done that with all the time I spent on the Problem ... I tried the patch. It installs well

And does it also work? :)

hendrikzuellig commented 6 years ago

Sadly nope. I guess I will reinstall the whole OS and see if that helps ;) thank's for your time !!
