Icon Request: fa-gab (gab.ai gab-ai) #10304

Open PastorBones opened 7 years ago

PastorBones commented 7 years ago

I'm looking for an icon for the new social site GAB.ai.

Here is a 100x100 png

fa-gab

ghost commented 7 years ago

Any progress made with this icon?

cromartie1984 commented 6 years ago

i second that request

ghost commented 6 years ago

Any update on this?

maxwell-gh commented 6 years ago

This would be awesome to have! Is there an update on this?

shylockza commented 6 years ago

What is the status of this request?

icomoon.zip

Zyniker13 commented 6 years ago

I would also like to see this icon added. I have clients who have Gab links included in their social media lists and all of the other networks have FA icons. Not having an icon for Gab means having to use a ‘generic’ icon that looks silly in a list of social media links.

MrBergstad commented 6 years ago

Request supported.

Gab.ai is one of the fastest growing social media today and more and more companies/organizations sign up on there. As an addition to the request: Free gab is green and paid (Pro) is yellow.

I fully and completely support this. How do we petition Font Awesome to add a Gab icon?

Zyniker13 commented 6 years ago

@ktaherig As this project is known to have virtue-signalling tendencies (see, e.g., the gun icon request: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues/3888), it may be that a Gab icon never materializes.

ktaherig commented 6 years ago

That is unfortunate, I must say. Well, in any case, thank you for your time, and have a great day!

Guess it’s time to stop using Font Awesome. 😎👏🏼

Holy social justice nonsense.

jessuppi commented 4 years ago

+1 for a Gab icon, their reach continues to grow monthly. It's kind of beyond obvious now that FA is holding out on certain icons to force people into the PRO version. That's their choice, but it seems a bit foolish to pick and choose which massively popular services they support by default...

For example, even Crunchbase is still missing.

You might be right, although FA has not publicly commented on that thread to date. However, with 52 gender-related icons and still no basic "gun" icon, it does appear that Dave Gandy has already made his leftist political activism obvious to a point of no return.

I do think it's a strategic mistake for FA to get too cocky and biased; time will tell. Personally, this is why I held off on giving Dave money on Kickstarter... but he has certainly perfected the art of getting hipsters to pay for a service that they have to pay for again, anyways... lol

ktaherig commented 4 years ago

@jessuppi Perhaps my next project will be to learn a combination of R, Python, and Matlab to devise a Machine Learning algorithm that calculates the Wage Gap™©® between all 9001√π genders.

MaghSamana commented 3 years ago

I don't think whatever politics have any place in such projects. Now, I also request a Gab icon.

And one more request: an open source fonticon library. Can we start working on that?

J-Wick4 commented 3 years ago

I think the people at FA are scared of technologies that allow anyone to sign-up and have free speech. It literally triggers their Chi-com conditioned brains on how the network administrator will not protect them from opinions they disagree with.

cassfalcon commented 3 years ago

I also need this one please.

kristoffer-paulsson commented 3 years ago

Need gab icon.

JoeCodesStuff commented 3 years ago

Make your own; Font Awesome is not going to help you here.

davidbowie1 commented 3 years ago

I've been using fa-frog. I know it's not the same but it works for now. Will they ban the frog?

kristoffer-paulsson commented 3 years ago

Thankyou

I think the frog logo is gone. I don't see any frogs anywhere on Gab Social. The logo just says GAB. It'd be better to have this icon. https://gab.com/favicon.ico

More info has come to light of the FBI investigation into the Capitol's pre-planned attack. Looks like Facebook and Twitter were exclusively used to plan and execute that stupid mission. Also, it's been learned that Facebook and Twitter are the two major networks child pornography and human trafficking is conducted. Gab and Parler actually do a much better job at removing and policing two extremely evil subjects. Therefore, I propose we remove the logos for Twitter and Facebook because smart people in tech would never want to be associated with such companies that won't stop evil from happening on their platforms.

Sincerely I do not agree because all the Social Networks (and all the technology) are like a knife: all ethics are related to who use that technology

The only ethics you should be worried about, are of the CEO of each respected company.

Social networks are non-tangible software systems that must adhere to laws in the territories they operate which also operate on terms of service you agree to during sign-up and use of such systems. Twitter and Facebook are not even following their own ToS and are breaking the law by not removing harmful illegal content. Besides that, they are deleting people based on their politics, which is not a violation of their ToS, a form of discrimination. They are also data sharing all your private information and communications with gov't which opens users to targeted political harassment, which Brandon Straka just experienced today after being arrested by the FBI and politically persecuted.

If you're perfectly fine with this, you might want to turn off the computer and go read some history books to figure out where this leads to next...comrade.

Well, while the Font Awesome devs decide whether they add the Gab logo, you can use this

Gab and Parler icons for Font Awesome I've made myself :slightly_smiling_face:

Instructions on how to set up and use them are on the page.

cassfalcon commented 3 years ago

THANK YOU Vinyanalista! You are amazing. Thank you for your work. I use MeWe instead of Facebook. Is there any chance you could create an icon set for that one too?

vinyanalista commented 3 years ago

Update: I just added the Gab frog icon to it:

image

I'm moving all my work to GitLab. New URLs for this project are:

@cassfalcon thank you for your feedback! I didn't know this social network, I'm going to try it. I've made a quick search and I'm unsure I can derive a Font Awesome icon from their logo (https://cdn.mewe.com/front/home/mewe-logo-white.c1f273f1.png) or their favicon (https://cdn.mewe.com/front/favicon.ico). Anyway, I see there is an icon request for it (FortAwesome/Font-Awesome#8415) and you commented there. In case I make this icon, I'll inform you.

cassfalcon commented 3 years ago

I appreciate it.
