Icon Request: icon-stopwatch-empty, icon-stopwatch-half, icon-stopwatch-full #11933

stopwatchicons Hi, What I’m going for is a series of icons that best represent the 3 ‘main’ Statuses within a Sprint (Agile) board world.

  1. “Pending” Waiting to start (Sprint Backlog)
  2. “WIP” Work underway, doing
  3. “Done” Work complete So I think a stop-watch (which you do not have) best represents the Time element for all 3 statuses with the central dial representing states of completion. Additionally, adding colour to each icon can further affirm the meaning of the icon.

I did consider using the “Hourglass” series of icons but didn’t feel they were clear enough. I also considered the Pause/Stop/Run (Video Player icons), but felt Pause didn’t represent “Pending” status clearly enough and Stop doesn’t mean “Finished”

I’m sure the designers can make the icon look more like a stop-watch than a diamond ring, which is what my wife mistook it for LOL.

stopwatchicons Many thanks for update PeterShaggyNoble. Where as I'm very happy for the inclusion of a Stop-Watch, I still feel they miss the mark by not exploiting the 'time-element' within the stop-watch to represent progress... Solid, Regular and Light doesn't quite do this.

I cannot leave this open with the current title, because it is a duplicate of #1340.

You are free to request an empty stopwatch or stopwatch states/progress. You can change the title.

We would appreciate if the examples you will provide will match the actual implementation of the stopwatch icon: https://fontawesome.com/icons/stopwatch?style=solid

Hi Tagliala, Yes I understand, you need to close this. I honestly don't hold out much hope given that #1340 appears to have taken 4 years! Thanks again

I honestly have. FA5 was released just a few days ago, maybe there is a chance of adding some pro icons to the free repo in the releases to come

Anyway, you can always go for a custom version of the webfont: https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/wiki/Customize-Font-Awesome

Can I call it Stop-Watch-Empty-Half-Full and leave them all in one issue? Or do you want separate issues for each Empty / Half / Full?

This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.

In this case we’ve added this issue to our new list to be created! We can’t promise any firm timelines right now, but this will help us keep track of it.

We’ll update this issue when the icon is released into the wild 🙂
