Icon request: fa-clear-all #13217

What can it be used for?

To clear all of something - like notifications, cards, etc. It is widely used on Android, for example, and so on my websites. I think this icon is super necessary.

Hi!

Thanks for being part of the Font Awesome Community.

I would like a better title for this request "clear all" is an abstract concept

itayganor commented 6 years ago

@tagliala Material Icons calls it clear-all and the icon is being used instead of swiping all notifications manually:

Other options I came up with may be fa-swipe, fa-wipe, fa-dismiss, fa-slide. What do you think?

This is an older issue, But I found it while googling to see if this icon was included.

For anyone else who also found this, until this icon is included, I have a solution: Stack 3 minus icons <i class="fas fa-minus"></i>, wrap them in a div. And adjust their positions individually. Giving a similar icon button.

There is a bonus, you can animate each individual fas fa-minus sliding them out, if you want to. Similar to on android: https://www.androidpolice.com/2015/03/23/android-5-1-feature-spotlight-dismiss-all-button-turns-into-a-delightful-detail/

Here is a simple demo, including an animation onclick : https://jsfiddle.net/4nowy5fd/9/

This is a quick update to let folks know that we’re refining our icon request workflow behind the scenes, and as part of that we’re going through all open requests and filing them into several new buckets to be addressed.

In this case we’ve added this issue to our new list to be created! We can’t promise any firm timelines right now, but this will help us keep track of it.

We’ll update this issue when the icon is released into the wild 🙂
