Hotbar being vertical is not changing the items to be verticle (picture included) #9

Sorry for another post in such a short time but I have my hotbar added the way I want but when I add items the items don't go vertical like the hotbar is. Also the hearts issue from my previous post is not fixed they just disappear when I am in creative. http://imgur.com/a/txUgJ
