The other day I noticed that there are several GregTech localization files on the translation project:

resources/GregTech[gregtech]/lang/ru_RU.lang.json
resources/GregTech(+8)[gregtech]/lang/ru_RU.lang.json
resources/GregTech(+12)[gregtech]/lang/ru_RU.lang.json

Why are there more than one? Which one should be used for translation?

This is not specific to Russian but for all the languages. (+n) indicates there're multiple mods in one jar. This was not a problem before, but we gradually merged addons into one GT jar, which caused this issue.

Adding translation on either of the files will work, though I'm not sure which one would be prioritized when there're conflicting entries. Proper fix is removing plus notation and merging existing translations into one file. I'll work on it later.
