What is the status of GENEPIO:0002094, specimen (sample?) collection device #36

http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/GENEPIO_0002094 is still mentioned in MIxS's notes about theirsamp_collec_device term

But that ID doesn't resolve in OntoBee anymore:

http://www.ontobee.org/ontology/GENEPIO?iri=http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/GENEPIO_0002094

Although it does resolve in OLS

The reason it doesn't resolve in ONTOBEE is that ontobee has failed to load GenEpiO at moment (see http://www.ontobee.org/ontology/GENEPIO). They've been having some problems loading ontologies or their import files. I asked them to look into it yesterday!

Thanks. So you consider GENEPIO:0002094 a live, stable term?

What is its preferred label now?

ddooley commented 2 years ago

Ah yes, in GenEpiO it is called "specimen collection device": def "The tool or device used to extract a specimen". Now the catch is that this was a term we though OBI might like, and it did so in the last year OBI: http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/OBI_0002814 "specimen collection device" has been added, defn: "A container used to collect a specimen." And we would ourselves switch to that. Should we coordinate that with you / GSC?

Thanks for bringing this up.

@turbomam - Mark, can we have MIxS switch to specimen collection device?

ddooley commented 1 year ago

@turboman GenEpiO term is deprecated in favour of OBI one. I'm closing this now, but I am curious if MIxS switch to the OBI term?
