Fixed the issue with the inclusion of the unnecessary *~ backup files. Commit: 290a5caa946c3d4bc3c005a97e08c9ac58217356

Fixed the issue with the inclusion of a redundant entry in the API/.gitignore which already appears in the root .gitignore. Commit: 07f27b4202cf42db8dd788c98f36f581d46d97ac
