I'm using the latest firmware (3.7) for my Ultimate-II+.
I see that whilst playing a game with any kind of sound/music playing at the time, if I reset the game (using the reset button on the cartridge) then open and close the Cartridge Menu button (middle button), the audio/music appears again whilst back in the CBM Basic screen.
Process to test/confirm:
using the default settings and no CRT image loaded, connect the audio cable from the line-out port to any speakers.
load a game and wait for music to be playing.
press the Reset button on the Ultimate-II+ cartridge (this should return to the CBM Basic screen).
now press the Menu button on the Ultimate-II+ cartridge (middle button).
press Menu button again to return to the CBM Basic screen.
you should hear the last sound that was made at step 3.
Update: I find that if I 'zero fill' the memory following a reset, this solves the problem. But this is only available on some cartridges like the Action Replay or Final Cartridge.
