Call lists do not update until I open the app, affects bluetooth connection

Hello. I noticed some time ago that call lists only update when I open the app. This takes a split second, but is noticable. As such it wouldn't matter at all, however, I wanted to make a call via bluetooth in my car. Using my car controls I wanted to choose a number from recent calls, but the number was not in the list. So I unlocked the phone, opened dialer, call list updated and now the number also appeared in my car's controls. This makes repeating phone calls via blootooth impossible without touching the phone itself, which I do not want to do while driving. Can this be improved, please? Thanks a mile.

Perhaps you have the application disabled in hibernate mode? For correct operation it is desirable to block the application from unloading from memory.

Thanks for the response. No, that's not the case. My phone has "adaptive battery" feature which I also turned off, no change.

However, I changed cars recently, new car.has Android Auto and it seems to work ok with that. So it might become nonissue for me soon.
