[Bug] FAST RMX runs very slow and crashes #177

Description of the issue

FAST RMX runs fine in the game menus, but once in-game, it runs slowly, and eventually crashes.

Reproduction steps

  1. Start up FAST RMX
  2. Press L+R to get to the main menu
  3. Press A to select CHAMPIONSHIP
  4. Press A to select SUBSONIC
  5. Press A to select SILICON
  6. Press A to select CEBRA
  7. After the timer starts, start to race
  8. Notice that the game is running slower than normal
  9. After some time, the game will crash

Tried on my Steam Deck too, and got the same issue

It has to do with graphics backend, did you check your graphics settings? If not try checking them.

if i remember correctly this game had issues more than just the back end api it would crash or had memory leaks. unfortunately it was not fixed or they didn't find out why

I have had a look at the graphics settings and they seem fine. My GPU is set as the preferred graphics processor. It is using Vulkan backend. I tried switching to OpenGL, but the performance is even worse.

Just under-powered hardware. I have a amd 5900x and nvidia 3070 and I can get (mostly) full speed in-game. Seems stable as well. I played through half of the cups at this point.

I had da same issue with PSX2 a few weeks ago, it was some Graphics backend, if i remember coreectly
