Even though the GUI search feature already exists, I'm leaving this issue opened as a suggestion to improve it
I think the new title misses the point of this issue. While the ClickGUI search can be improved (or replaced), this issue is requesting an alternative to ClickGUI, TabGUI, .toggle
, etc.
When opening "spotlight" search you would only see a searchbox, not a bunch of ClickGUI category windows.
Personally this sounds like a good idea for Impact 5.x, I'd like to hear @ZeroMemes's opinion.
When opening it, just like spotlight in macOS, keep it as only a text input box.
I thought the GUI already had a search? My bad
Yes, the ClickGUI already has search. It just highlights the mod searched for
Oh I see. Oops
I like the GUI of wurst! (In search mode)
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I know that you can search for a mod in the ClickGUI. I feel like it is a bit annoying needing to manually click on that mod to toggle it. Sometimes I don't want to go into the ClickGui to toggle one mod, or find it in the TabGUI, and I don't want to bind it to a key.
Describe the solution you'd like Pressing a key (I would choose the backslash key, but allow this to be bound to any key) would show up a place to input text. This is where you can input something you want to toggle. Maybe add a list of related mods, and a place to add/change the keybind in here too. The arrow keys can be used to select something. Hitting enter will toggle the mod. Pressing right can go let you change things about the mod, like for speed you can change how fast or slow. Show this as a separate list, divided from the search results. Using the way to configure the mod like the TabGUI would be fine. Another thing, it may be annoying to retype the mod that was searched for. If something was searched, and Spotlight had been exited, keep the previous search there. New input will overwrite the previous input. This is really not needed: Allow users to change the theme of this, like different fonts, colors, that stuff, Not adding the ability to change the colors and stuff is fine, it might make things look inconsistent.
Describe alternatives you've considered Not many utility mods for Minecraft have this feature. I have used another utility mod with this feature, and I liked it. I usually prefer Impact over that other utility mod though.
Additional context macOS has a feature called Spotlight. I want something similar to that in Impact.
I made this concept screenshot (it's just drawn on top of the screenshot), maybe this helps? Hopefully the final would look better than that image. Tell me if the image doesn't show up
