Yes, I have the same problem as xieanxiean. In the Quick Start(http://www.openflowhub.org/display/FlowScale/Quick+Start), got error when add "http://of-lab2.grnoc.iu.edu/flowscaleupdate" to software site.
Is there any alternatives to solve this problem?
In github instead of checkIng out the maIn branch checkout the branch dev/0.5

Dear xiean_hi,
Thanks, I have checked out the branch dev/0.5. According to the Quick Start article, if open up the main.target file of "Beacon Main Target" project and then click "Set as target platform.", the projects of FlowScale will get errors. If open the main.target file of "Flowscale Target Platform" and then set as target platform, there is no error in the Eclipse IDE.
Following Running Flowscale part of Quick Start, no matter launch the application in run mode or debug mode, it can't startup.(And there is no error message).
Is there any setting I miss?
Thanks, Yoyo Chen

Yes, I have edu.iu.incntre.flowscaleproduct in my workspace, and imported
into eclipse too.
The Quick Start said that click "debug" button ("Click on the "debug"
button") in the flowscale-ids.product. I did it. No any message shown but
"
I found that in the Dependencies tab of flowscale-ids.product, the icon of "org.eclipse.equinox.console.telnet" is with a red cross. I don't know is this prevent me from launch flowscale. Will try to fix this problem.

Dear Ali,
I don't think so. It shows "terminated" in eclipse's console when launched. I use netstat to check and there seems no any port about FlowScale (6633, 8080, or else). (My environment is WinXP + JDK 1.6 + Eclipse Juno)

just follow the Quick Start
Setup Beacon and OpenflowJ, and this part ok and works fine. the projects structure of 0.5 is quite different from branch main. I import all of the projects of branch 0.5 into workspace. It is ok to this step. And then fail to launch the Flowscale.

Yes, the structure is pretty much different, I cleaned up on a lot of the hard coding as well as were the classes go.
one question before I dig deeper, when you say you get an error in org.eclipse.equinox.console.telnet when you hover the mouse over it , does it give you a certain message (like there is a missing package ? )

probably you should download edu.iu.incntre.flowscaleproduct and open the flowscale-ids.product file, down in the testing label, there is a link called"launch as Eclipse application in Debug mode".And it should start running. But I have encounted many errors. And I still can't resolve them.If you have lanuch the app without exceptions, please help me and send the detail steps you have followed.Thanks.

No, not yet.
I retry to build a new environment. I use following commands to get openflowj & beacon git clone -b dev/1.0.2 git://gitosis.stanford.edu/openflowj.git git clone -b dev/1.0.1 git://gitosis.stanford.edu/beacon.git
And then import all projects of Flowscale. After open the main.target of "Flowscale Target Platform", wait for "Resolving Target Definition" and click "Set as target platform", there is no more error.
I can launch beacon in debug mode in this workspace. But I still can't launch flowscale yet. When I open flowscale-id.product of project "edu.iu.incntre.flowscaleproduct" and click "Launch an Eclipse application in debug mode", it give me error message "Cannot connect to VM".
Still trying to figure out what's going wrong.
Thanks.

It looks like either an eclipse or a jvm issue, you might need to restart eclipse to get it to work (or reboot the machine).
Also, you might consider running it without debug mode.
Let me know if any of those help, also, please let me know your config details.

Thanks for you and xiean_hi's help. I can launch flowscale at last. In Window | Preference | Java | Installed JRE, I add a JDK and set as default. And flowscale can launch now. I am working to deploy webui now.
There is still a problem to me. I use mininet to simulate the network. When launch beacon, the pingall in mininet can works fine. When launch flowscale, the pingall fail. Still have no idea on this part.

It looks like either an eclipse or a jvm issue, you might need to restart eclipse to get it to work (or reboot the machine).
Also, you might consider running it without debug mode.
Let me know if any of those help, also, please let me know your config details.
yoyochen wrote:
Thanks.

Yes, the structure is pretty much different, I cleaned up on a lot of the hard coding as well as were the classes go.
one question before I dig deeper, when you say you get an error in org.eclipse.equinox.console.telnet when you hover the mouse over it , does it give you a certain message (like there is a missing package ? )

yoyochen,
Thanks for the JDK info.
FlowScale uses Beacon as its controller and all OpenFlow messages directed to Beacon are in turn forwarded to FlowScale. All switch, router or any other functionalities available in the Beacon deployment are not included with FlowScale.
I hope that clarifies things. Let me know if you need help in deploying the webui.

Yes, I have edu.iu.incntre.flowscaleproduct in my workspace, and imported into eclipse too. The Quick Start said that click "debug" button ("Click on the "debug" button") in the flowscale-ids.product. I did it. No any message shown but "
flowscale-ids.product" shown in console view. I found that in the Dependencies tab of flowscale-ids.product, the icon of "org.eclipse.equinox.console.telnet" is with a red cross. I don't know is this prevent me from launch flowscale. Will try to fix this problem.

probably you should download edu.iu.incntre.flowscaleproduct and open the flowscale-ids.product file, down in the testing label, there is a link called"launch as Eclipse application in Debug mode".And it should start running. But I have encounted many errors. And I still can't resolve them.If you have lanuch the app without exceptions, please help me and send the detail steps you have followed.Thanks.

Currently there are three classes handling IP addresses and subnets
edu.iu.incntre.flowscale.IPAddress edu.iu.incntre.flowscale.IPAddressUtility grnoc.net.util.ipaddress.IPv4Address
consider merging them ?
