I don't mind being added.. but for purely as evidence for copyright purposes, isn't it enough to check the git revision history?
That's possibly true, yes. It just feels better to not rely on important information being there in the history, although I don't foresee it going anywhere.

Yes, that worked, and yes, I'd be happy to be on the list.
It's been so long and I haven't done this; I'm not going to worry about it. The repo history has that information, as people have noted.
There should be a list of contributors in the readme, and it should include Janne Hellsten and Joey Adams. It's not just common courtesy, though it's that too; it's necessary to track for copyright purposes. When projects don't carefully track code donations, anyone could retroactively assert a claim and force them to no longer be open-source, which I'm sure nobody would want.
