Upcoming Events #272

Pls remove May 9-12 from the box on the main page, and please move it from upcoming to past on the News & Events Page.

Done. We have no events currently listed in the Upcoming Events section of the home page.

Thanks. Will you send the email to JGC staff on Thursday with link to staging site so we can see all changes?

I know there is nothing in the Upcoming Events box....there are no conferences or I am writing a version of the JWG forum that will fit in the box.

This is an issue I'd like to discuss with Vera when she is working on the home page. I'm not certain how that box was intended to be used. Since we don't host events, all we can do is post others' events when relevant, or list conferences (which are not events in the participatory sense) where staff are presenting (in which case we might list "upcoming academic conferences"). If our practice was to hold a regular schedule of public events, then it would make sense to devote the space. As is, it's a struggle to find content. Form isn't following function. The whole issue of static boxes of equal dimension on the main page is a long-standing enhancement item so glad to discuss with Vera when possible.
