Q: “why are recommendations for mothers with suspected COVID-19 different from social distancing recommendations for the general population?” A: “Information on Covid-19 is constantly changing. You may find responses to questions I currently cannot answer here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html . Are there any other questions I can help you with?”

Expected Answer: The recommendations for adults and older children to maintain social distancing are to reduce contact with persons not showing symptoms who have COVID-19 so that the virus does not spread. The recommendations for babies and young children whose mothers have confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infection is to improve the survival, health and development of their newborns and infants.
